Glossary · Jacket

Chest piece

The layered haircloth-and-domette assembly inside a jacket's chest, pad-stitched by hand into a permanent curve. It is the part of a canvassed coat that actually makes the chest, and the reason a good jacket has a shape the wearer does not.
