Milan's reputation is for restraint, and Musella Dembech is the exception that makes the rule visible: a coat with more shape, a higher and closer chest, and proportions that read as personal rather than as regional. The house shape
A high, close chest with a shoulder that sits narrow and slightly extended, a marked waist and a short skirt. It is a distinctly personal silhouette and it reads as neither Milanese restraint nor Neapolitan softness.
Construction is light, a soft canvas rather than a full English one, which suits the closeness of the cut. The result is a coat that fits like a second layer rather than an outer one.
Working with a small workshop
Two cutters and a limited output means waiting, and it also means the person who measures you makes the decisions about your coat. In a large house the cutter and the customer may not meet after the first fitting; here they will.
The style is personal enough that it should be seen before it is commissioned. A high, close chest and a distinctive shoulder are not neutral choices, and a customer expecting a conventional Milanese coat will not get one.
